Early Learning Academy
Oak Creek High
- The Early Learning Academy is the district's 4-year-old kindergarten
program. The 4K program will be housed at Salvation
Army, Harvest Community Church, and Deerfield Elementary School.
The program is taught by state certified kindergarten teachers who are
employees of the district and work in conjunction with the 5-year-old
kindergarten staff to ensure continuity of instruction and preparation
for learning in the school environment.
- The six elementary schools in the district work closely to ensure
consistency in curriculum and instruction as well as the types of
programs in the schools and the structure/format of those programs.
The teachers in all six schools meet together by grade level six times a
year for a half-day each time to plan, develop, revise, review, and
discuss curriculum, instruction, and assessment at that grade level, as
well as to work with teachers at other grade levels in specific content
areas (called vertical teams) to ensure that each grade level builds on
the knowledge, skills, and experiences developed at the previous grade
level and prepares students for the next level.
- The two middle schools also work closely to ensure consistency in
preparing students for the high school programs and curriculum. In
addition, our middle schools provide a great variety of academic,
athletic, and musical co-curricular programs to enrich the learning
experiences of our students. The middle school teachers also meet
six times a year for a half-day each time to work on curriculum,
instruction, and assessments. The curriculum is the same for each
grade level and each content area in the school district.
- Our high school is a comprehensive high school that helps prepare
students for their futures in whichever path they may want to take.
Approximately 50% of our graduates each year go on to a four-year
college or university; another 30% go on to a one-year or two-year
community or vocational college program; and the rest of the students go
into apprenticeship programs, the military, or employment. Our
high school provides a variety of AP classes, in which a high number of
students are enrolled. Oak Creek High School has been recognized
by Newsweek Magazine as a top high school in the country based on
student participation in AP courses. Our high school also has a
certified Project Lead the Way program that allows students who
participate in this pre-engineering program to earn college credits
through MSOE. In addition, our high school has a strong music
program, Certified Nursing Assistant program, and many other excellent
- In cooperation with several other high schools in the area, our
district provides an alternative high school experience for students who
have not been successful in a traditional high school. This
alternative high school, called Connects Learning Center, is located in
Cudahy. Students attend Connects for half-days and then spend the
other half day in their home school.
